Job Descriptions for Executive Board Year 2012-2013
You Can Make a Difference!
Are you willing to take on a fun, challenging position on next year's Executive Board? Being a Board member is a rewarding experience. It's a great way to use your talents, skills, and knowledge and have an impact on others' lives. An added bonus, volunteer work always looks good on a resume!
Here is a brief synopsis of the elected Board positions:
President- Oversees all aspects of the DOSC, assesses input, and is the ultimate decision maker when needed. The President also runs the monthly board meetings and appoints all committee chairs.
First Vice-President- Oversees the Welfare side of the Board to include the Craft Show, Scholarships, Publicity, Welfare, and Member-at-Large Chairpersons. Charity is the key in our organization. This is a very rewarding position when you consider the DOSC gives approximately $30, 000 annually toward worthy causes and scholarships.
Second Vice-President- Oversees the Social side of the Board including the execution of the monthly Social events. Responsibilities include overseeing the Membership and Social/Programs to name a few…all the activities that affect the General Membership the most.
Social Treasurer- Handles all Social money and account bookkeeping. Works directly with the Second Vice-President and Social Chair to ensure expenditures and income are accounted for accurately.
Welfare Treasurer- Handles all Welfare money and account bookkeeping to include the separate Craft Show money and account bookkeeping. Works directly with the First Vice-President and Welfare and Craft Show Chairs to ensure expenditures and income are accounted for accurately.
Recording Secretary- Records and maintains Board and Committee meeting minutes. Good note taking and computer skills recommended.
Corresponding Secretary- Retrieves mail from the Dover AFB P.O. Box and messages from the DOSC voicemail box; passes these to the proper Board member. Sends cards, notes, invitations or flowers, as requested. Also coordinates photos at social functions.
Candidate information synopses will be available in the April issue of Highlighter and available at the April social. Elections are held at the April social. New Officer Installation will be at the May social.

Don't forget all those important Committee Chairs. You may not feel ready to hold an elected office, but a Committee Chair, or Co-Chair, may be right up your alley. It takes many talented and dedicated people to keep the DOSC a vital and fun part of Dover AFB. Committee Chairs are members of the DOSC Board and meet for approximately one hour, the first Thursday of each month; childcare is available.
