The Dover Officers’ Spouses’ Club is offering scholarships to Dover Air Force Base families to high school seniors and other family members pursuing higher education. The DOSC will be offering 14 scholarships ranging from $1000- $2000 to total $20,000.
Scholarship applicants must be dependents of active duty, reserve, or retired military members or U.S. government employees assigned to Dover AFB, or dependents of deceased military members residing in the area served by Dover AFB. Graduating Seniors must be current high school seniors in the Dover AFB area and must have applied to an accredited college/university for the fall 2010 academic year. Continuing Education Applicants Eligible must be either children/stepchildren (under the age of 23) or spouses. They must also be currently enrolled (spring term 2010) as part-time or full-time students in post-high school educational programs. If the active duty parent of an applicant is transferred after the beginning of the applicant’s senior year, the student must remain in and graduate from a school in the Dover area to be eligible for this scholarship. Dependents who live and/or attend a local high school as a result of their sponsor completing a remote tour overseas or temporarily staying as the result of a PCS may also apply. Scholarships are not given two consecutive years in a row.
Applications are available at the guidance offices of most area Delaware high schools, the base Education Office, base library, The Landings, the base Community Center, you can download them from our website, or you may send a written request to: Dover OSC, Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. All applications materials must be postmarked no later than March 4, 2010.
