Dover Officers’ Spouses’ Club Awards $28K in Scholarships
Dover AFB, DE -- Jun 1, 2011 --

The Dover Officers’ Spouses’ Club (OSC) awarded $28,000 in scholarships to 14 graduating seniors and 7 continuing education students.   The presentation of Scholarships included a dinner held on May 11, 2011 at the AMC Museum.   The theme of the evening was “Grow, Nurture, Inspire”.    Each of the recipients is a child or a spouse of an active duty, retired or deceased member of the US Air Force.

The guest speaker for the scholarship award ceremony was Zoann Parker, PhD, Executive Director/Dean on Wesley College New Castle Campus.  Dr. Parker was a phenomenal speaker who encouraged the scholarship recipients to use their college years to explore and experience all they can.  She told them they are about to embark on the safest and most exciting time of their lives.

In addition to scholarships, the Dover OSC gave approximately $7,000 to various national, state, local and Dover AFB charities this year.  Dover OSC is a private organization comprised of talented men and women from all over the United States and beyond who are spouses of active duty and reserve officers assigned to Dover AFB as well as spouses of retired and deceased military officers living in the local area.

The Dover OSC scholarship awards and charitable donations are made possible by the proceeds raised at the Dover OSC Annual Craft Show.  The show hosts 150 talented artisans and crafters, 5000 attendees and is run entirely by volunteers.  This year, the 28th Annual Craft Show will be held on November 5, 2011 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, DE.  Additional information on the Dover OSC and the craft show is available at www.doverosc.com.
