The Dover Officers’ Spouses’ Club (OSC) awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 14 Dover Air Force Base families at the May 12, 2009 Scholarship Ceremony held the Dover AFB Golf Course Clubhouse. Seven graduating High School Senior scholarships were presented to Cameron Olezene, Christopher Hartung and Emily Chick from Caesar Rodney High School, Andrew Davis and Erik Towne from Dover High School and Katya Rivera and Arthur Tillmes from Milford High School. Seven Continuing Education scholarships were presented to Katherine Monahan attending the University of Delaware, Mary Beth Shepherd attending Wilmington University, Laura Briggs attending Delaware Technical College, Rebecca Schroeder attending West Chester University, Caitlyn Nutt attending West Virginia University and Toni Loper and Jaclyn Nutt attending the University of Maryland. The amount of the scholarships awarded ranged from $1000 - $2000 per student.

The guest speaker for the scholarship award ceremony was Mr. Mark Teesdale, Delaware Teacher of the Year, 2008-2009. Mr. Teesdale teaches fourth and fifth grade music and directs a 190 member chorus at Central Elementary School in the Lake Forest School District. He encouraged the award recipients to learn and challenge themselves outside their comfort zones for this is when they will achieve their greatest accomplishments.

The DOSC scholarship awards are made possible by the proceeds raised at the DOSC Annual Craft Show. The show hosts 200 talented artisans and crafters and 5000 in attendance. This year, the 25^th Annual Craft Show will be held on November 7, 2009 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, DE.

To be eligible for an OSC scholarship, the applicants must be a dependent of an active duty, retired or reserve military member, or the dependent of any deceased military member or the dependent of any civilian government employee residing in the area served by Dover AFB.
